Diabetes diets are highly relevant in the present times wherediabetes Diets a vast majority of global population is diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is basically a chronic metabolic disorder in which the body’s ability to convert sugar and starches into energy is affected. Most of the food consumed is normally converted into glucose during digestion. Glucose is carried to different parts of the body by the blood stream. Insulin turns the glucose thus transported into energy. The remaining glucose is stored in the body for further use. In diabetic patients the body will be unable to produce enough insulin. This results in the accumulation of glucose in the blood stream.

A diabetes diet is suggested to patient when they are diagnosed with diabetes. There are basically two major forms of diabetes. First is the type 1 which is commonly known as Juvenile Onset Diabetes. In this condition blood produces little or no insulin. This disease could be inherited and is found more in children and teens. People affected with type 1 diabetes must balance the daily intake of foods and activities. Second type of diabetes is type 2 which is also known as Adult Onset Diabetes. This condition is usually observed in people around 30-40 years of age. In this type of diabetes body cells show reduced sensitivity towards insulin. Obesity is one of the main reasons for type 2 diabetes. Weight loss and dietary control is extremely important for people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Diabetic patients should follow a healthy diabetes diet which contains lesser amount of salt. Body sources enough salt in organic form vegetables. Therefore patients should avoid intake of organic salt. Sugar is another item which diabetic patients should avoid in their diet. Sucrose is a dangerous item for such patients as it provides nothing but calories and carbohydrates. It is preferable to use natural sugar like honey instead of artificial sugar containing sucrose.

Excessive fat should be scrapped of from diabetes diets. Fried items usually contain huge amount of fat and oils which are not good for diabetic patients. A small quantity of oil is acceptable as it is essential for absorbing fat soluble vitamins. If you are a non vegetarian and are diabetic then you should completely avoid red meat. If possible try to stick to a vegetarian diet. Consumption of eggs and poultry should also be reduced in order to keep your health at optimum condition. Fish can be included in the diet as it provides ample amount of proteins. Lean fish can be consumed two to three times a week. It is recommended that diabetic patients use low fat milk and its products like curd. High fat cheese should also be replaced with low fat cottage cheese.

The consumption of tea and coffee should be restricted to not more than two times a day. Consuming herbal tea is also recommended. One should entirely avoid white flour and its products as they contain large amount of carbohydrates. Patients can replace it with whole wheat, soya breads and unpolished rice. These food items should be included in the diabetes diet as they will provide enough energy without causing health complications.

    Alcohol is not totally prohibited, but a strict control it is required. Most of the beverages producers have on the market “sugar free” sparkling drinks. Those are for diabetics.
